Seorang di antaranya berkata: "Sesungguhnya aku dahulu (di dunia) ada seorang rakan (yang menempelak daku). Surah As - Saaffaat (51) Dan Kami adakan bagi mereka teman-teman rapat (dari jin dan manusia), lalu teman teman itu memperhiaskan kepada mereka (fahaman fahaman sesat) mengenai perkara perkara dunia yang ada di hadapan mereka serta perkara perkara akhirat yang ada di belakang mereka; dan (dengan sebab itu) tetaplah hukuman (azab) atas mereka bersama sama dengan umat umat (yang sesat) dari jin dan manusia yang terdahulu daripada mereka, sesungguhnya mereka semuanya adalah golongan yang rugi (bawaan hidupnya) Surah Fussilat (25) Dan sesiapa yang tidak mengindahkan pengajaran (al-Quran yang di turunkan oleh Allah) Yang Maha Pemurah, Kami akan adakan baginya Syaitan (yang menghasut dan menyesatkannya), lalu menjadilah syaitan itu temannya yang tidak renggang daripadanya. Surah Az - Zukhruf (36) Sehingga apabila ia (yang terjerumus dalam kesesatan itu) datang kepada Kami (pada hari kiamat), berkatalah ia (kepada Syaitannya): "Alangkah baiknya (kalau di dunia dahulu ada sekatan yang memisahkan) antaraku denganmu sejauh timur dengan barat! Kerana (engkau) adalah sejahat jahat teman" Surah Az - Zukhruf (38) (Semasa ia dihumbankan ke dalam neraka jahannam, ia mendakwa bahawa Syaitanlah yang menjadikan dia sesat; pada saat itu) Syaitan yang sentiasa menyertainya (di dunia dahulu) berkata: "Wahai Tuhan kami, aku tidak menyesatkannya tetapi sememangnya dia sendiri berada di dalam kesesatan yang jauh terpesong." Surah Qaaf (27)
